Our Story

Coolum Beach Trailer Hire was founded in 2023 by Thomas Bridge, who like any good story fell into it by accident.

 

During Covid - and with a baby on the way and a new mortgage to pay for - Tom's work as a freelance marketer dried up and was perilously close to stopping altogether.

At the same time, Tom sold a washing machine that was too big for his family's new Newstead apartment in Brisbane for twice what he paid. So he began flipping washing machines to make ends meet.

This gravitated to flipping fridges (which required a 7x4 trailer) until Tom's marketing work improved and the family moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2022.

 

Wanting to keep his side hustle going, Tom switched to selling fridge parts. As the business grew over time it eventually required him to travel to Brisbane once a week to collect six fridges at a time - so in April 2024 he bought the first of our 10x5 trailers.

Only needing it once a week, he started renting it out on the days it wasn't in use. By September 2025 he added a second 10x5 trailer to the fleet to meet growing demand, and in February 2026 a 3.5t car trailer was added due to regular calls asking for such a vehicle!
