Sunshine Coast 3.5t Car Trailer Hire
Nicknamed The Beast, our GINORMOUS 3.5t car trailer was the 2026 addition to our fleet of trailers, purchased from Century Trailers in Brisbane in February 2026.
Weighing 1.2t and with a load capacity of 2.3t, this 5Mx2M punched floor / perforated flat deck car trailer can carry even the heaviest vehicles and loads!
It's tilt mechanism means even the lowest of cars can be loaded, and the 3 speed winch means the trailer does all the heavy lifting.
Electric brakes are applied to all 4 wheels for total piece of mind, as well as a quick release emergency brake system and manual hand brake once parked.
As usual with our pricing, the longer you need it the cheaper it gets!
Why do I need a 3.5t / 3500kg Car Trailer?
This 3.5t / 3500kg car trailer is the heaviest weight rating car trailer you can get before you need a specialist tow vehicle (eg a Dodge Ram, Chevrolet Silverado or commercial truck) and a larger 70mm towball - the standard is 50mm.
This means that any 3.5t tow capacity car (eg Hilux, Prado, LandCruiser and similar makes / models) can tow this car trailer and it can carry any weight of car up to 2.3 tonnes - which basically means it can carry any car as a for example a LandCruiser 300 weights 2200kg.
Although a similar physical size, car trailers with a much smaller 2 tonne / 2t / 2000kg weight rating can only carry very small cars. This is because the trailer itself can weight 800kg which means you can only carry cars with a max weight of 1200kg.
What if I don't have a 3.5t tow car?

How many people do I need?
For personal safety reasons please ensure there are at least two capable licensed people present when loading or unloading vehicles from car trailers. If winching a vehicle on or off the trailer a licensed driver must be in the drivers seat assisting with the cars foot and or hand brake while another operates the winch from the front of the trailer. If driving a vehicle on or off the trailer a second person must be present to guide and spot the driver. When using tilting trailers please ensure there are no other people or animals within 3 meters of the trailer while tilting to avoid the possibility of serious injury. Please make sure all ramp and tilt pins or locks are secure before driving.

Why is a flat deck better?
A flat deck is perfect for using a car trailer to carry heavy flat goods such as roofing and garage doors. Beavertail trailers that dip at the back are unsuitable for carrying heavy loads as they may break!
Why is a punched floor / perforated deck better?
As an additional extra that costs over $1000 when buying a car trailer, most car trailers don't come with a punched deck / perforated floor. This is a mistake. The punched holes or perforations in the decking provide better traction for vehicles, reducing the risk of slippage or accidents during loading, unloading and transportation. This is particularly beneficial when transporting heavy vehicles or in inclement weather conditions.
Punched decking is also versatile and can accommodate various types of tie-down systems for securing vehicles during transport. The perforations provide anchor points for straps, chains, or other securing mechanisms, allowing for secure and stable transportation of cars, trucks, or other vehicles.
